WHO WE ARE
Kaizen Consulting Engineers is a Building Services consultancy helping clients create safe, comfortable, high-performing buildings. Since 2020, we’ve driven innovation and sustainable design for diverse sectors across the UK. Our team members offer extensive experience and are dedicated to delivering tailored engineering solutions for our clients.
In 2022, we partnered with Verisys, a specialist commissioning and validating consultancy. Together, we provide an integrated approach to the building life cycle, ensuring our clients receive superior outcomes.
Kaizen aims to reduce the construction industry’s environmental impact by promoting sustainable development. We assist our client’s goals in achieving net zero carbon whilst creating a future that benefits people, the planet and the space we live in.

MEET THE TEAM
Director
Chris is the founding Director of Kaizen and has been responsible for the business’s success over the last few years. He is a degree-qualified engineer with over 19 years of experience in the contracting and consulting sectors of the construction industry.
Chris is passionate about sustainable and low-energy design solutions and has worked with numerous high-profile UK and international clients.
Director
Leigh has extensive experience within the building sector, from being an apprentice electrician in his early years to a specialist consultant in building services engineering.
Leigh offers over 20 years of consultancy experience and has worked across various challenging projects in retail, commercial, banking, industrial, educational and private equity organisations.
Director
Phil is an experienced contractor who has spent years working for a significant UK MEP contractor. Phil works as a technical project manager on selected commissions in the UK and the Middle East and brings a wealth of practical, on-site knowledge to the entire team.
Phil has worked with many large, complex projects in Dubai and the UK and now brings his expertise to the Kaizen team.
Associate Director
Sam has over 10 years’ experience in the construction industry. Working closely with the design team, Sam manages a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers within the Leeds office. His responsibilities include being client facing, taking projects from conceptual stage through right through to construction level and working alongside M&E Contractors up to handover.
Being electrically biased, Sam’s main roles and responsibilities include producing low voltage distribution systems including detailed calculations, lighting and emergency lighting, small power & data, fire detection / alarm systems and Security systems for new and existing buildings.
Business Manager
Hannah is a natural leader who enjoys managing, training and motivating teams to ensure excellent customer service, striving to exceed expectations at all times.
Hannah brings extensive experience in staff and operations management within our industry with a strong background in customer service.
Principal Electrical Engineer
Richard is a degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry in both the Contracting and Consulting Sectors.
Richard has enhanced his site-based knowledge by combining both technical and practical skills to provide quality engineering solutions across a wide range of electrical systems. He has developed his experience across all sectors, including Education, Commercial, Retail, and Industrial projects.
He specialises in lighting design and in providing solutions that utilise natural daylighting and low energy technologies.
Principal Mechanical Engineer
Steve has over 25 years’ experience working within the construction industry. He has worked as a contractor and a consultant. He can use his knowledge and experience to provide mechanical engineering advice on all stages of the design, from concept to building completion.
He has worked on a range of projects including commercial, retail, leisure, education, offices and health care. With extensive experience working on heritage, educational and commercial projects.
Due to his time in the industry he has become experienced at co ordinating design and coming up with solutions to spacial fit issues. He liaises with the construction team and electrical engineers to ensure that there are no clashes and the build can commence.
Steve is passionate about incorporating sustainability within his designs, whilst ensuring that they are a workable solution for the client.
Senior Electrical Engineer
Sam joined the industry in 2012 as a Junior Electrical Design Engineer. As well as attending college and learning to be a designer he also gained practical experience of carrying out surveys and basic handson electrical skills. This knowledge and experience enhances the electrical engineering advice he provides.
Sam has worked hard to gain experience and qualification within the industry. He has worked on a range of projects across all sectors. These have included a retirement village, upgrading and replacing services in retail units to smaller and 10 story multi use building for a University.
Intermediate Mechanical Engineer
Liam started his career in building services in 2019 as an apprentice. Since then he has gained his BTEC qualifications and is now in his 2nd year of a degree in Building Services Engineering.
He has undertaken a wide variety of projects from stages 2-5, and worked in many sectors more notably healthcare and commercial projects. His responsibilities have included delivering feasibility studies, stage 3, stage 4 design packages and conduct installation reviews after the project has been complete.
Liam is also competent at using the IES virtual environment to produce thermal models and conduct loading analysis tasks. He can also develop BRUKL compliance documentation.
Digital Engineer
Rob has over 5 years experience as a BIM Coordinator. After gaining exposure to a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial & public sectors at all RIBA stages, my knowledge and understanding is now extremely broad.
He has extensive experience of using various software packages including, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Revit and Navisworks.
Trainee Engineer
Ethan joined the team in 2022 as an apprentice trainee engineer and has a keen passion for engineering and construction.
He has shown that he has an affinity to the mechanical side of the design process and is a welcome addition to the mechanical team where he supports other engineers on live projects, whilst gaining valuable experience..
He is attending Leeds College of Building to undertake his Level 3 in Building Services Engineering qualifications.
His aim is to complete Level 3 then move onto Level 4 so he can progress to University and complete a degree in Building Services Engineering.
Trainee Engineer
Evan joined us in 2022 as an apprentice trainee engineer and has become an integral part of the electrical department.
He has shown an aptitude for analytical problem-solving and computer software tools to aid the design process.
Evan is undertaking his Level 4 in Building Services Engineering at Leeds College of Building.
His aim is to complete his current studies and progress to University in order to obtain a degree in Building Services Engineering.
Senior Revit/CAD Engineer
Matt has over 23 years of experience working in CAD and Revit. He has worked for several building services contractors and consultants across all major sectors. His work involves coordinating mechanical and electrical designers’ information, document control and integrated design with architecture and structural services.
Matt’s key skills include 3D BIM/ Revit modelling and coordination, 2D Autocad Producing Mechanical and Electrical layouts and schematics.
Revit/CAD Engineer
Deighton started his CAD training in 2017 and has gone onto become proficient in AutoCAD and Revit. He joined Kaizen Consulting Engineers in 2024 from another building services consultancy firm where he worked across all major sectors including education, industrial, commercial, and healthcare.
Deighton is experienced in Mechanical, ventilation and pipework installations coordinating in Revit and AutoCAD, he has a great knowledge of BIM and the processes involved and using his organisational and time management skills to ensure deadlines are met.
Revit/CAD Engineer
Paul has over 15 years’ experience working in CAD. He joined Kaizen Consulting Engineers in 2023 from another building services consultancy firm where he worked across all major sectors including education, industrial, commercial and healthcare.
Paul is experienced in the coordination of mechanical and electrical designers information, document control and integrated design with architecture and structural services.
Revit/CAD Engineer
Richard is experienced in the coordination of mechanical and electrical designers information, document control and integrated design with architecture and structural services.
